Fife Coastal Path
The Kingdom of Fife has a lot to boast about at any time of the year, however when the first spring bulbs start to burst out on the landscapes, it signals a time of the year when the whole region really comes alive.
There's a lot to see and do in Fife which includes marvelling at the splendid coastline, enjoying the best golf in the world and so much more. One of the most popular scenic walks in the region is the Fife Coastal Path, and there's no better place to stay than at the Old Manor Hotel for the start of a glorious adventure. We are located roughly halfway along the Fife Coastal Path and have bus services that run from outside the hotel to all points on the path, perfect.
The coastal path actually runs over 117 miles along some of the most beautiful and rugged coastlines Fife has to offer, with photo opportunities around each bend and over every hill. It is a walker's dream come true and a bird lover's paradise, not to mention a photographer's idea of heaven.
There really is something for everyone, whether its peace and tranquillity in beautiful settings or something a little more action packed and adventurous, but the one thing walkers can be sure of is they will enjoy an exhilarating walk in an environment where the air is clean and the skies appear to go on forever.
The Coastal Path is Very Well Marked
The coastal path is well signposted offering walkers the chance to choose easier routes to saunter down or more challenging experiences which are certainly very demanding. A lot of visitors to the area choose to do the walk in stages enjoying the time they spend along each section of the way without feeling the need to hurry. The pace is that much slower in Fife which means walkers really do get the chance to take in more of the natural beauty they come across along the way.
Starting out from the bustling and historic town of St Andrews is a favourite with many visitors to Fife because the path takes them along some of the most scenic parts of the coastline on to former coal mining towns found in central Fife. The route also takes walkers to charming fishing villages and along award winning beaches and then through some of the regions most populated wildlife reserves which run each side of the estuaries – not forgetting the impressive and rugged cliffs which are home to thousands upon thousands of sea birds.
Taking the time to really appreciate the beauty of this walk means planning your days well and remembering to take along a bottle of water or two. However, there are some wonderful places along the path where walkers can take a break. This includes some rather inviting pubs and cafés come tearooms which are the perfect havens to sample a little more of the Kingdom of Fife's hospitality and delicious regional specialities.
