Golf at The Old Manor Hotel

The Old Manor Hotel is the perfect location for your golfing holiday. Within a 20 minute drive of some of the best courses in the UK our location is ideal. Our well stocked bar, comfortable lounge and first class restaurant offer the icing on the cake for a wonderful holiday.

The Kingdom of Fife is of course synonymous with St Andrews – "The Home of Golf", and all the wonderful golfing options it has to offer. However, for the visitor looking for something different the area provides great golf course options for all budgets and tastes.

Fife has a host of wonderful links golf courses such as Lundin Links, Leven, Crail, Kingsbarns, the two courses at Fairmont St Andrews Resort. It is similarly blessed with some wonderful inland courses such as Ladybank and Scotscraig.

As you can read below there are a host of golf courses all within easy reach of The Old Manor Hotel. Check out our map for mileage and locations.

Lundin Golf Club

Lundin Golf Club sits beneath the hotel and is overlooked by many of our rooms and the main dining room too! ‘Lundie’ as the locals call it, is a superb example of links golf along with a three hole parkland section where the route climbs onto higher ground. Conditions and presentation are always exceptional, linksey swells and firm ground call for particular skills that can only be achieved by playing these truly original golf courses.

Lundin Ladies Golf Club is proudly known (and loved) as the only ladies golf club in Scotland, with over 300 members. However, gentlemen and children are most welcome, and whilst playing the 9 hole James Braid-designed course, the famous Standing Stanes can be admired on the 2nd fairway.

Crail Golfing Society

Less than twenty minutes from the Old Manor Hotel, The Crail Golfing Society play over two excellent seaside golf courses laid out on an historic spit of land known as Fifeness. The Balcomie course dates from the 19th century and was designed in part by the legendary Old Tom Morris, who stated ‘there is not a better site for a course in Scotland’. It’s fairways are all within sight of the sea, with the coastline coming into play on one third of the course. The Craighead Links, a newer course, overlooks the Isle of May, Bass Rock and the East Lothian coastline and presents a very challenging golf experience. The two courses compliment each other perfectly and represent the epitome of golf by the sea.

Leven Links

Lundin Links Golf Course 14th Tee

A neighbour to Lundin Links and a short drive from The Old Manor Hotel is Leven Links.

When commencing play over Leven Links the committed golfer should recognise that he or she will be playing, in part, over one of the oldest pieces of golfing ground in the world. From the start of the round the golfer will be conscious of the fairways running along the valleys between the old dunes; it makes for superb definition and a true test of links golf as the slopes and bounces of these natural obstacles come into play throughout the round.

Kingsbarns Golf Links

Kingsbarns provides a fantastic addition to the rich tradition of links golf in the area, and whilst golfing activity has been taking place on the site for well over 200 years, only relatively recently has the course been developed to its current status.

It has previously hosted Final Qualifying for the Open when taking place at nearby St Andrews, as well as featuring along with the Old Course and Carnoustie as part of the annual Dunhill Links Championship. Kingsbarns is within a twenty minute drive of The Old Manor Hotel, neighbouring Crail’s two courses.

Fife Golf Passes

There are a couple of really great golf pass schemes in Fife which make it easier for the visiting golfing group and The Old Manor Hotel can help you with both of these.

Links With History

Screengrab - Links with HistoryLinks With History is a special joint booking initiative developed by four of Scotland’s leading, and most historic golf clubs – Crail, Scotscraig, Lundin Links and Ladybank. See their website here.

They named it Links With History because these courses are among the very oldest in the world. Situated near St.Andrews in Scotland’s Historic Golf heartland, the group offers championship class courses that date back to the early days of tournament golf.

This initiative gives you a “one stop-shop” point of contact to book rounds at two, three, or all four of these historic clubs.

Links With History provides:

  • Maximum convenience when planning your golfing break
  • Easy access to championship courses.
  • Advice and information
  • A discount on normal green fee charges.

First in Fife Golf
